Intelligent building automation with TWILINE – efficiency on a new level

Building Automation Modernization

At the Schützenmatt site, the existing building automation system was completely modernized and upgraded to the latest standards with TWILINE – Swiss Made.

The goal was to create a centralized, user-friendly, and energy-efficient solution that combines comfort, security, and cost-effectiveness – for users, management, and technical staff alike.

💡 Control Units & Management System – Modular and Scalable

Four new TWILINE control units were installed in wings A through D and networked via a central management system.

This system processes data from the weather station on the roof of wing A and efficiently distributes all automation commands to the building units.

This results in a robust, scalable control architecture with a clear structure and high operational reliability.

💡 Control Units & Management System – Modular and Scalable

Four new TWILINE control units were installed in wings A through D and networked via a central management system. Integrated Functions:

Central control system with four TWILINE control units

Weather station for dynamic control and weather protection

Real-time communication between all building sections

Efficient data processing via network connection

⚙️ Automated Control & Functions

TWILINE building automation intelligently and according to demand controls all essential building functions:

Function Overview:

Shading: Individually controlled per floor and facade

Lighting & Ventilation: Automated control in corridors and restrooms (sections A–C)

Exterior Lighting: Dusk-to-dawn and time-controlled for maximum energy efficiency

Door Systems: Day and year calendar-based control for break room doors with visualization of the door status

Weather Protection: Automatic securing of blinds in case of wind, hail, and frost

📲 Ease of Use & Visualization

The intuitive TWILINE web app enables easy operation, clear visualization, and flexible user management.

Individual views are stored for each building – centrally controlled or locally operable, tiered according to user rights.

Highlights:

Graphical visualization of all systems and statuses

Tiered user management (per building, facade, or floor)

Direct parameterization and adjustment during operation

Clear display of all functions via touch panel or PC

🌿 Sustainability & Existing Building Protection

A key aspect of the modernization was the reuse of existing hardware.

Sensors, actuators, and cabling were fully integrated into the new system – resource-efficient, economical, and future-proof.

Advantages:

Resource-efficient integration of existing components

Minimized investment costs

Future-proof, expandable system architecture

Durable, low-maintenance installation
