It all began in 1944 in Bümpliz, when Werner Wahli founded a small mechanical workshop – W. Wahli AG. At the time, the focus was mainly on mechanical counters.

The company successfully established itself in the textile industry and continued to grow steadily.

Mid 1980s

A key technological leap occurred in the mid-1980s with the introduction of the EZA, the first electronic counting and display device. This milestone marked the successful entry into the world of electronics and expanded the existing product portfolio with a forward-thinking dimension.

Just two years later, the SAE brand set new standards in functionality and comfort with a modular shading control system. This early move laid the foundation for intelligent building automation – and demonstrated the pioneering spirit that is still evident in every one of their products today.

1991

This year rked another milestone: With the development and successful market launch of the two-wire bus system TWILINE® by the engineering office CWE, a new era in building automation began. W. Wahli AG subsequently acquired the trademark rights, relocated research, development, and production to Bern, and gave TWILINE new growth potential.

In the 2000s

The breakthrough of the second generation of TWILINE occurred: Central controls could now be conveniently programmed on a PC, and with the TP-1 touch panel, intelligent automation finally got a “face.” On this basis, increasingly complex and smarter TWILINE products and systems were developed over the following years, setting new standards in user-friendliness and efficiency with innovative web visualizations.

2012

This year arked the next step in innovation: With the introduction of the xBus, a new, powerful communication platform was established in building automation. Continuous updates and expansions have since ensured that all installed devices communicate seamlessly, quickly, and reliably with each other. The xBus is thus the foundation for a connected, future-proof, and easy-to-use building infrastructure.

2016

This year saw the launch of the fourth TWILINE generation – equipped with the powerful and intuitive programming tool xTool. This provided integrators with real added value: since then, they have been able to plan, program, and implement even highly complex controls with ease. This simplification laid the foundation for efficient project workflows and once again underscored the brand’s commitment to innovation.

2018

This year saw another development leap: With the introduction of the DALI gateway, the scope for modern individual lighting controls was significantly expanded. It can be used both seamlessly with the xBus and independently, serving as the DALI central unit and enabling even more flexible and easier-to-implement individual lighting solutions. This extension combines maximum functionality with practical modularity – once again setting standards in intelligent lighting management.

This year will mark the beginning of a new era: The next TWILINE generation will present even more powerful products and an expanded software portfolio. This will set new standards in efficiency, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. Integrators will be able to implement their projects more efficiently, quickly, and profitably than ever before. This latest development once again underscores that TWILINE will continue to be the reliable partner for groundbreaking building automation in the future.
